Title of page is What do we Believe?

The image is of the cross at the back of the sanctuaryWe at St. John’s East believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and our Savior.  We acknowledge all who share in this confession as united in Christ.  We look to the Scriptures because we believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God.  We believe that God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit is given to believers to show God's love.  In accordance with the teachings of our Lord, we recognize two sacraments:  Baptism and the Lord’s Supper or Holy Communion.

We believe that it is the responsibility of each person to respond to the Good News that we can find forgiveness for sin in and through Jesus Christ.  It is sin that separates us from God, but we are reconciled to God through Jesus’ sacrifice.

We believe that as members of the Church we are all called to minister to others.  We believe that we, at St. John’s East, are free to act in accordance with the collective decisions of our members, guided by the working of the Holy Spirit in light of the Scriptures.  St. John’s East is self-governing while at the same time we work together cooperatively with other churches and faith based organizations in our community.

We believe that God is love.  One way that we express our faith is through love to everyone.  No matter where you are on your Spiritual journey you will be welcomed, loved, and accepted at St. John's East.
